How to get there
To get to Lismore island you take a boat from either Port Appin or Oban. Give yourself 4 hours drive from Edinburgh and similar, possibly less, from Glasgow. Trains to Oban from Glasgow meet some ferries.
From Oban, ferry times and fares:
From Port Appin
For the Port Appin (passenger ferry only)
All the courses are based in Carnie Cottage, which is in the centre of island, 4 miles from the Port Appin ferry landing ( Point) and 2 miles from the Oban boat landing ( Achnachroish).
To get to the cottage you'll need to book the taxi. Dorothy or John Livingstone will come and pick you up from the ferries. You'll need to call them in advance by a day or two. Most islanders have many jobs...Dorothy also works a farm. Please call her for a taxi ride on 01631 760 220. The cost a car to the cottage is £11 and it can take up to 4 passengers.
If you have no lift then don't worry.....islanders are very friendly and will give you a ride if they're passing. Just ask on the ferry,' Is anyone going past Carnie? .
Whenever you do get to the cottage, there will be a hot cup of tea and cake waiting for you!
